Imagining a Better Future Through Autism Research

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), once considered a rare condition, now is known to affect 1 in 44 children. It impacts many areas of development, including social behavior, language, movement abilities and cognitive development, and it is associated with multiple medical issues, such as seizures and gastrointestinal problems. While individuals with ASD can show many strengths, the challenges that these disorders can create also often are daunting for affected individuals and their family members.

At the Kansas Center for Autism Research and Training, we pursue cutting-edge research on the causes of ASD and the development of more effective approaches for supporting people with ASD. We are asking everyone whose life has been affected by ASD to invest in this research by supporting our talented early career scientists. They are the researchers whose innovation and new strategies will shape the field in the coming years, and they need your support to push these critical ideas forward. Your gift will help pave the way for their research on:

  • Brain mechanisms associated with ASD
  • Early development and diagnosis of ASD
  • Novel and more personalized therapeutics for those affected by ASD
  • Language development and support for people with ASD
  • Repetitive behaviors as strengths and the focus of supports in ASD

Donations will provide critical support for these research missions. Invest in scientific discoveries that will lead to earlier diagnoses, more individualized intervention and support strategies, and new understanding of the causes of autism spectrum disorder.
