One Day. One KU. has ended but your support makes a difference every day. You can still make a gift.
Spencer Museum of Art

The Spencer Museum of Art strives to be a welcoming space for everyone. We recently worked with an accessibility consulting group to audit the Museum’s physical and virtual spaces, identifying ways we can improve access for visitors of different abilities and backgrounds. Accessibility has many facets and we recognize that our changes will need to be ongoing. It is our hope that with your support, we can continue to remove barriers of accessing our collection, galleries, exhibitions and programs to provide a better experience for all visitors.

Every gift supports ongoing projects such as:

  • Providing free parking for weekday Museum events and programs
  • Improving wayfinding signage inside and outside the Museum
  • Creating multilingual labels, tours and educational materials
  • Including tactile objects as part of exhibition experiences
  • Offering multi-sensory materials and aids such as braille gallery guides and noise-canceling headphones
  • Training with Audio Reader to teach our staff how to write audio descriptions for artwork on display and alt text for digital content
  • Providing ongoing accessibility education and professional development for all Museum staff

Your contribution of any amount to this campaign will strengthen the Spencer Museum’s capacity to provide accessible and meaningful experiences with art. Gifts of $50.00 or more enroll you as a Friend of the Art Museum, sustaining an accessible Spencer Museum for the entire year.
