KU International Affairs fosters a global community on campus and around the world. Through our work with recruitment, admissions, immigration services, English language programs and academic bridge programs, we support more than 1,700 international graduate and undergraduate students from more than 100 countries. We bring scholars and faculty from across the globe to KU, while providing opportunities for students in every academic discipline to have an international experience, either on campus or abroad, through international study, research, internships, service learning and globally oriented on-campus programs.
Support of International Affairs' 2023 One Day. One KU. campaign will provide funding for passports for students who do not have them, scholarships for education abroad opportunities and humanitarian assistance to international students in crisis.
FREE PASSPORT PROJECT
For students of limited means, academic travel abroad poses financial hurdles, like the cost of a passport, which could bar them from moving forward. Your support of One Day. One KU. will provide support for students to get a first-time U.S. passport at KU. The project seeks to promote diversity, inclusion, access, and equity in study abroad and encourage students to go abroad who would otherwise not participate in an international experience as part of their college education.
BUILD A MORE DIVERSE STUDY ABROAD POPULATION
Education abroad changes lives, yet many students who desire this experience face academic, financial or other obstacles to participate. KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement (SAGE) aims to increase the number and diversity of students benefiting from an international education, with the goal that study abroad participants’ disciplines and demographics mirror the university’s undergraduate population. In particular, SAGE is seeking to expand access to education abroad opportunities for more first-generation college students, high-need/Pell Grant-eligible students and other students traditionally underrepresented in education abroad programs. Your contribution to One Day. One KU. will help us meet this goal.
SUPPORT HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE
From home countries torn apart by war to unanticipated family hardships, international students at KU face unforeseen financial challenges. In the past two years, donations to this fund have helped KU support students whose families were caught in the war in Ukraine and those from Afghanistan. Contributions to this fund will assist international students who are in a time of crisis and thousands of miles away from home, enabling us to support them as they continue their studies at KU.
