The Dole Institute’s One Day. One KU. campaign this year has special meaning as all gifts will honor our 20th anniversary and Senator Bob Dole’s centenary. As we look back on 20 years of promoting bipartisanship and civil discourse, we look forward to the future and serving as the living example of the Bob Dole legacy, challenging new generations to balance partisan philosophy with the pursuit of common ground and common good, for an American democracy that fulfills its promise.
In 2023, your gift in honor of this special year will provide unique experiential, mentorship, and leadership opportunities for students.
The Dole Institute makes available to all students the vast archives of both Senators Bob and Elizbeth Dole for research and writing projects, providing invaluable experiential learning. Students are afforded hands-on training by performing tasks such as designing an exhibit, developing communications plans, producing audio/visual content, and much more.
During the fall semester, we provided unparalleled mentorship opportunities for students to work directly with our Fall Fellow, Gerald F. Seib, former Washington editor of the Wall Street Journal and KU graduate. This semester, students will gain international experience with Spring Fellow and Kosovar diplomat Qëndrim Gashi, as well as the return of Jerry Seib.
Students who are active with the Dole Institute also have access to leadership training as they assist with mounting the campus-wide Civic Engagement Month. Last fall, the Dole Institute piloted a student exchange program with the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, which will resume in the future with KU students traveling to Cambridge.
Help us continue to provide meaningful opportunities for students. Your gift will go a long way towards helping develop the next generation of America’s leaders.
