This year, Kansas Athletics is taking your One Day. One KU. donations and allowing them to impact two areas that are critical to our student-athletes: mental health and wellness and women’s initiatives. This investment will ensure we provide all the necessary resources. These initiatives provide critical support and furthermore celebrate the advancement in these areas, which allows our student-athletes the help they need to grow and succeed beyond their Jayhawk Journey.
Student-Athlete Mental Health & Wellness:
Kansas Athletics believes that “Mental and Physical Health are inextricably linked. Evidence suggests an elevated risk of injury among athletes who experience anxiety, depression, abuse alcohol, or have an eating disorder. Furthermore, the athlete’s psychological response to injury has the potential to exacerbate existing vulnerabilities. Mental health is a key component of student-athlete wellness, and Kansas Athletics is committed to providing an environment that supports wellness while also providing resources so that student-athletes can obtain referrals to mental health services.” (Kansas Athletics, Inc., Procedures for Identification and Referral of Student-Athletes for Mental Health Services)
Women’s Initiatives:
Kansas Athletics continues the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX. This federal civil rights law has been credited with profoundly changing education in the United States by barring sex discrimination in the nation's schools. Title IX, along with other equity laws, helped unlock access to educational and athletic opportunities, paving the way for women in college athletics and society as a whole. As part of this commitment, Kansas Athletics has established the Women’s Support Fund. This fund will directly support initiatives and programing designed to position countless Jayhawks for success at KU and beyond.
*All One Day. One KU. donations are 100 percent tax deductible and do not qualify for membership or priority points.
