At The University of Kansas Cancer Center, we are on a mission to conquer all cancers.
It takes a community to prevent, treat and cure cancer. Our researchers, doctors, nurses and staff strive every day to reduce cancer’s toll on patients, caregivers, family and friends. But your help can make a bigger difference for more people.
With our recent achievement of National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation – the most elite status a cancer center can achieve – we need more support than ever. This achievement helps us bring the highest level of research, prevention, treatment and survivorship programs and services to our community. It helps us expand clinical trials, accelerate research and develop precision therapies for every patient.
And your gift can help us stop cancer before it starts.
Examples of our efforts to reduce the burden of cancer include:
The only NCI comprehensive cancer center in the region.
Over the next decade, the number of cancer diagnoses are predicted to increase by 50 percent. One in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
The University of Kansas Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center in the region and 1 of only 53 in the United States.
Comprehensive cancer centers like The University of Kansas Cancer Center are pioneers in cancer research, recognized for their scientific leadership, resources and depth of research in basic, clinical and population science.
As an NCI-designated comprehensive center, it is also the cancer center’s duty to provide public education and outreach programs on cancer prevention and screening, with a sharpened focus on the unique underserved and high-risk populations in Kansas and western Missouri.
What does NCI comprehensive designation mean for our patients, their families and our community? It means higher survival rates and fewer cancer cases overall. More lives saved.
Join us on our quest to conquer all cancers.
