Military-Affiliated Programs

The University of Kansas is home to more than 1,400 current and former service members and their families who are now pursuing their dreams of higher education. Our goal is to make the KU programs and resources available to this cherished population of our student body second to none.

Whether you have served in the military, have a family member or friend who has served, or simply want to honor the service of our veterans, we hope you consider a gift to our programs.

You will help us foster the legacy of selfless service we all hold close to our hearts.

Lt. Gen. William K. Jones Military-Affiliated Student Center

The center serves as KU’s centralized resource for current and former service members and their families. Our services focus on assisting with the transition to student life, successful degree completion and navigating Veterans Affairs benefits. Your support helps us provide tailored programs and services to military-affiliated students that enable them to achieve their academic, personal and professional goals as they move to, through and beyond the university.

KU Scholarships for Military-Affiliated Students

KU is proud to offer two scholarship programs specifically for our military-affiliated students: Student Veteran Scholarships for outstanding veterans and service members and Wounded Warrior Scholarships for wounded/ill/injured service members and prior-service veterans, primary caregivers, surviving spouses/dependents, and spouses/dependents of veterans with a 100% service-connected disability rating. Your support helps students stay focused on their academics and achieve their higher education aspirations.

Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Project
The Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Project was born out of a life well-lived. Army Specialist Spencer C. Duncan was living his dream of making a difference in this world when he was killed in action in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011. Because Spencer felt so passionately about the freedoms we enjoy in this country, he was willing to give his life. The Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Project supports the nation’s veterans and their families, and the supporting communities that work alongside veterans. KU is proud to be the recipient of the Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Scholarship, which recognizes and supports those student veterans who have excelled in their military service and who have unmet financial needs. This year, the project has stepped forward to provide a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $10,500, for all gifts made to the Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Scholarship.
