The departments that make up the School of Architecture & Design are two of the oldest of their kind in the nation, and we are proud of KU’s long history of preparing students who graduate ready to impact the world through design. Few professions are better equipped to respond to the many challenges the world faces today than those that utilize design-based inquiry to create design-based solutions.
But no profession, no matter how well-equipped, can expect to develop the best solutions for the world without truly being part of the world. The School of Architecture & Design is dedicated to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive educational environment that provides the opportunity for talented students, no matter their background, to engage the world as both exceptional designers and committed citizens.

One KU. 24-hour fundraising campaign will directly impact the success of current and future students by focusing on two priority areas:
Grabow Scholarship Fund: The study abroad experience is a pillar of architectural education at KU. Professor Emeritus Stephen Grabow’s decades-long commitment to developing opportunities abroad for KU students was instrumental in creating innovative programs that still serve as models for universities across the country. Professor Grabow’s commitment continues today with this scholarship fund. The rising costs of education and travel create challenges for many of our students. By supporting this fund, you will help continue this legacy of global architectural education at KU and ensure that these opportunities are available to all students.
School Minority Student Fund: By supporting this fund, you will help contribute to the School’s capacity to recruit, retain, and provide opportunities for minority architecture and design students. A diverse student body is a vital asset toward creating an educational environment the best reflects the world, and design professionals who are best equipped to communicate ideas and respond to challenges.
